SYNERGISTIC ACTIVITES

  1. Internet2, Information Technology and Grid Computing Leader:  Founded UAB Internet2 Program; UAB I2 Applications Lead 1997-present. Developed significant internal, corporate, and NSF grant funding for campus-wide advanced networking services at UAB, 1997- present. Subsequent activities include a UAB Internet2 web site; use of Internet2 network and advanced information technology for research and education projects, in collaboration with faculty from Anthropology, Art, Dermatology, Education, Emergency Medicine, Engineering, English, Health Informatics, Microbiology, Music, Pathology, Physics, Sociology and other departments. Directed development of “UABgrid” for sharing computational resources using central Identity management and distributed policies.
